INTERNSHIPS
Reporting to the Editor and the Acquisitions Manager, the Editorial Intern(s) will assist the Managing Editor in the research and production of Transit Publishing books from manuscript acquisition to the final product. The Editorial Intern(s) may also be asked to assist other departments as needed.
The ideal candidate(s) will have excellent communication and organization skills, an ability to manage several projects and deadlines simultaneously, an eye for detail, high level of creativity, and proven aptitude for proofreading and copy editing. Understanding of the book production process a plus. This is a four month, unpaid internship position. Preferably, candidates will work full-time hours, but we can be flexible. Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Marketing & Sales Intern will assist in the promotion and selling of Transit Publishing books in the Canadian and American markets as well as overseas. Duties include online research, organizing and execution of targeted mailings, sales tracking, event coordination and promotion, school & library marketing, web marketing, and author & illustrator relations. The Marketing & Sales Intern may also be asked maintain the Transit Publishing blog and Twitter account, create content, and assist other departments as needed.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in publishing and/or children's books, excellent networking and organization skills, an ability to focus on multiple projects simultaneously, and enjoy brainstorming to help develop new avenues of sales and promotion. General understanding of media and publishing is a plus! This is a four month, unpaid internship position. Preferably, candidates will work full-time hours, but we can be flexible.
